Shimmering Cave is a standard boss with two stages to fight through. This is the only boss with 3 difficulties, Easy, Normal, and Hard. If a player takes on the boss alone on easy, the game will add 3 AI companions to the battle.

For this boss, not much strategy is needed. Just keep throwing units at him until he runs out of cards.
His units are mostly poisonous (strengthened with counterattack for melee units), so Dread Wraith are not as useful like with other bosses
If possible, blow up the explosive barrels when many goblin units are surrounding them, causing easier losses on your field. On easy difficulty the barrels are more of an annoyance, so blowing them up as soon as possible makes the raid oh-the-more faster.
The boss tends to use up all his direct damage spell cards during the first 5 rounds, so try to hold back your best creatures until they have passed

• "Fire Storm": 8 fire damage to all creatures in 2×3 area
During Stage 2 the boss will send in Black Market Caravans (mobile versions of the barrels), and will be able to cast Hermes' Wings. If an explosive unit ends up at the foot of your heroes, just leave it alone, it won't do any bad to you. Minor note: the AI can cast some meteor-shower destroying his own units, so you will never be perfectly safe, better to prevent the Caravans from reaching you at all even at the cost of the deaths of your units.
